It is not uncommon for dentures to require re-adjustment from time to time. Changes can occur due to medication, weight loss or even diet; and since dentures do not stretch or shrink, they may need to be relined.
Increased salivation may occur when getting a new denture, therefore the patient should expect a “breaking-in” period lasting up to a few days. It is important for the patient to practice talking with them often. Eating will also be a new challenge and will require an adjustment period.
Using our in-house lab, we can customize the fit of dentures or partials, giving our patients beautiful smiles. Depending on needs and budget, we offer dentures ranging from custom to high-grade, Alpha Plus dentures. As always, we provide free adjustments for the life of the dentures, regardless of the denture type. Having our own lab helps keep costs lower for patients and allows us to offer same-day denture repairs, even if the patient got the dentures elsewhere.
Without proper care, dentures can deteriorate just like natural teeth. Soaking dentures in a solution of equal parts water and vinegar will help to remove stains and odor. Scrubbing dentures with baking soda or using store brand denture cleaners is also very helpful to remove stains. Whichever way is chosen, practice and patience are needed.
As with dentures there is an adjustment period. A cast partial is made of metal and acrylic. Partials are used to fill in gaps where teeth are missing, and aids in chewing. In many cases, if the patient experiences additional tooth loss, the teeth are able to be added to this type of partial. We offer a 3-year warranty on the acrylic and 5-year warranty on the metal part of this partial.
Warranties cover breakage due to normal wear and replacement of lost or damaged teeth in the denture or partial. Warranties do not cover replacing lost dentures.
Patients should not wear any denture adhesive on the day of the appointment. The old dentures may need to be borrowed for a few hours. We normally schedule two appointments on this day; one in the morning to start the new dentures, and one in the afternoon for the wax try-in. If this is not convenient, please let us know when making the appointment.
Immediate dentures are made before the teeth are extracted, so the patient is never without teeth. It’s best to start this process with an exam and x-ray(s). We will sit down with the patient to discuss the process and provide a better idea of total cost and answer any questions. This usually takes about one hour. Please call for an appointment. All immediate dentures include one free reline after the patient has healed from the extractions. The free reline must be done between one month to one year after extractions and is only included if we extract the teeth at our office.
Dentures can begin to fit loosely over time. This can be caused from weight loss, bone loss, changes in blood pressure, etc. When we do a reline, we will take an impression of the current denture and our lab will add acrylic according to the mold of the patient’s mouth. It is normal to need an adjustment or two after a reline; we will adjust the denture for no charge after reline.

An appointment is not needed for this service, but we do ask that the patient drop it off before 10:00 A.M. Most of the time it can be repaired in only a few hours.
